  5. inspired by his ideas have probed media revolutions 
  6. in the 20th century (Czitrom 1982). While 
  7. begrudgingly admitting McLuhan‚Äôs importance in 
  8. raising questions about media, many of these 
  9. scholars court academic respectability by 
  10. trivializing his contribution, and downplaying his 
  11. role as a founding figure in their field. (eg. Czitrom; 
  12. Heyer 1988).
